Refund policy

RETURN AND REFUND POLICY

Right of Withdrawal

In accordance with European legislation (Directive 2011/83/EU) and the French Consumer Code, you have a period of 14 days from the receipt of your order to exercise your right of withdrawal, wherever you are located.

Strict Return Conditions

To be accepted, any return must strictly comply with the following conditions:

  • The item must be returned in its original condition, unworn, unwashed, undamaged, and with all its original tags attached
  • Items may be tried on only, and must not be worn for an occasion or an event
  • The item must be returned in its original packaging
  • Any item showing signs of use (perfume, makeup, deformation, snags, stains) is subject to a deduction from the refund for loss in value, or is returned to you at your expense if you would rather have it back

Anti-Fraud Warning

Caftan Paris applies a strict anti-fraud policy. Each item is photographed and filmed in detail before shipment and upon receipt of returns. Any return of an item that has clearly been worn at an event (wedding, evening party, ceremony, etc.) is identified when we receive it. In that case the item's loss in value is assessed and withheld from the refund, under the conditions set out below. If you would rather have the item back than accept that amount, we return it to you at your expense. Caftan Paris reserves the right to report any proven fraud to the competent authorities.

Special case: earrings

For hygiene reasons, earrings that have been unsealed or worn are not accepted for return, under article L221-28 of the French Consumer Code: they are worn in contact with a piercing and cannot be put back on sale. They are shipped to you in a sealed pouch. As long as the protective seal is intact, you may exercise your right of withdrawal in the usual way. Once the seal is removed or the pair has been worn, the item is no longer taken back whatever its condition: this is a complete exclusion from the right of withdrawal, not a reduced refund. The deduction described below therefore does not apply to these items. If an unsealed or worn pair is sent back to us anyway, we return it to you at your expense, without a refund. Our other jewellery and accessories (necklaces, bracelets, brooches, belts, tiaras, clutches) follow the ordinary rules: you have 14 days to withdraw, and only an observed loss in value may be withheld from the refund.

Maintenance and Customer Liability

Each item is accompanied by care and washing instructions that must be strictly followed. Caftan Paris cannot be held liable for any damage resulting from non-compliance with these instructions (fading, shrinkage, deterioration of beads or embroidery). Such damage is covered neither by the legal guarantee of conformity nor by the guarantee against hidden defects, and the resulting loss in value is withheld from the refund where the right of withdrawal is exercised.

Exchanges

Exchanges (size or model) are available for orders delivered to France (including Monaco) and the European Union, subject to stock availability. Your first exchange is free, whether for a different size or a different model. For any further exchange, return shipping is at your expense. If the new item costs more, you pay the difference; if it costs less, we refund the difference. To request an exchange, follow the return procedure below and state the size or model you would like.

For orders delivered outside the European Union, we do not offer exchanges. You can return the item for a refund and, if you wish, order another size or model right away, without waiting for your return to be processed. Like any order delivered outside the European Union, this new order may be subject to your country's import taxes.

Returns from Outside the European Union (including Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Norway and Andorra)

We accept international returns within 14 days, for a refund. As Caftan Paris is an independent brand shipping from France, return shipping costs and any customs duties and taxes on import into France are entirely the buyer's responsibility. So that your return is not taxed when it arrives in France, declare it as “returned goods” and enclose a copy of your invoice: we send you detailed instructions with our confirmation. If customs charges are nevertheless billed to us when your return arrives, that amount will be deducted from your final refund.

Faulty or Non-Conforming Items

If an item is faulty or does not match your order, contact us at contact@caftanparis.com with photos: return shipping is then at our expense. You benefit from the legal guarantee of conformity (articles L217-3 et seq. of the French Consumer Code) and the guarantee against hidden defects (articles 1641 et seq. of the French Civil Code).

Return Procedure

  1. Contact us at contact@caftanparis.com within 14 days of receipt, indicating your order number and the reason for the return
  2. Wait for our confirmation before sending anything: it gives you the return address and speeds up your refund
  3. Ship the item carefully packed to the provided address

Return shipping costs. In France (including Monaco) and the European Union, your first exchange is free, whether for a different size or a different model. The cost of all other returns (refunds, further exchanges, and any return of an order delivered outside the European Union) is borne by the customer, unless the item is faulty or non-conforming. We recommend using a shipping service with tracking and insurance, as Caftan Paris cannot be held liable for packages lost or damaged during return transit.

Refunds

Upon receipt and verification of the item (within 48 hours), the refund will be processed within 14 days via the payment method used when placing the order, provided that all the above conditions are met.

Items Excluded from the Right of Withdrawal

Under article L.221-28 of the French Consumer Code:

  • Earrings that have been unsealed or worn, for hygiene reasons
  • Items returned after the 14-day period

Reduced refund where value has been lost

You may try an item on as you would in a boutique. If it comes back to us with a loss in value because it was handled beyond what is necessary to try it on, we withhold from the refund an amount corresponding to that loss, and we justify that amount to you. This applies in particular to an item worn at an event, an item damaged by failure to follow the care instructions, or an item returned without its tags or original packaging. We tell you the amount withheld before issuing the refund. If you would rather have the item back than accept that amount, we return it to you at your expense, on request made within 14 days of our message.

Effective Date

This policy applies to orders placed from 28 September 2026. Earlier orders remain subject to the previous version. In the event of any discrepancy between the French version and a translation, the French version prevails.
